Setting up VoIP on Nokia N95

Some time ago I spent several days trying to configure VoIP functionality of my N95. I installed different aditional software, I registered myself for different VoIP-providers - no chance. Yes, I also tried built-in software. No way, it simply didn't work. I finally I found nice and short manual about VoIP-configuration on the example of "Internetcalls". Following that manual, I could configure my N95 for VoIP.

So, here are steps:
Step 1: configure your SIP-connections
"Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> SIP Settings": here you define your SIP profile(s), which later will be used for the phone calls. In my case - I also use "Internetcalls" and "CheapVOPI" - I had to create 2 of them. Important note: don't forget "Domain" field, it seems to be very important. In the case of "internetcalls"/"CheapVOIP" it's "internetcalls.com" or "cheapvoip.com". The rest of the seeting you should get from your provider. Anothe point: field "public user name" doesn't have to be a real phone number (so-called "outbound number), which usually costs money). It also can be a string in format @

Step 2: configure your telephone profiles
"Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Internet tel.": here you just define profiles (set of settings like ussed codecs), which use your SIP profiles for calls. Actually, here I changed nothing except for name.

Step 3: make calls
"Menu -> Tools -> Connectivity -> Internet tel.": this is an application to make internet calls. When you start it, it connects (registers) all available profiles, and you can do internet calls using menu item "Internet call" on the contacts. Here I have to admit, that I have no idea why it connects all profiles (if you several of them), and which one is used "by default". Since I know exactly, which one I need, I simply start application again, and when it asks about disconnecting profiles, I confirm it for the undesired one (and keep right one connected).

That's all. If you have questions, just ask.

Ovation to "TestDisk" software

Hello @all,

several months ago I occasionally deleted very important partition of my hard drive. I found software called "TestDisk" (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk), and I managed to recover my data. Thanks to the authors of that cool software!

Andrey

OviStore client for N95: problems with installation

Hello @all,

today I tried to update an app "Download!" on my N95. Actually, it had to be replaced by an "Ovi Store" cleint, but installation failed with a message "unknown error: -12". I searched for an older version of a client (or, better to say, for the version which was intended exactly for N95), and I found it here: http://www.symbiantweet.com/download-ovi-store-client/. Unfortuntaelly, the installation of version 1.05 failed also.

I don't have time and interest right now to fight with this problem further. Maybe, later... but not now...

Mein neues Handy: Nokia N95

Hallo @all,

SQL Server 2005/2008: SPLIT-function for strings

When processing data in a database table, sometimes you need to split a string value in a column, which has format "Val1Val2...ValN", into parts Val1, Val2, etc. Example:
given:
ItemID  |  ItemProperty
4511     | Black / Yellow / Red

desired:
ItemID  |  ItemPropertySingleValue
4511     |  Black
4511     |  Yellow
4511     |  Red

Since T-SQL doesn't have such a function by default, I searched a bit in the Internet and found a nice idea to use XML data type to do the job. Here is a T-SQL function, which takes as parameters key column value, string to split and separator and returns a table, containing of pairs key value + substring. Additionally an index/position of each substring in the original string is returned - in this way values form certain levels/depth can be selected.

CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[splitCategoriesForItem]
(
       -- Add the parameters for the function here
       @pItemNr nvarchar(255), -- ID of the item
       @pCategoriesString nvarchar(255), -- string of categories to split (in the case of pixi-export - column TonTrText
       @pSeparator nvarchar(1)
)
RETURNS
@tblResult TABLE
(
       PrdKey nvarchar(255), -- ID of the item
       Value nvarchar(max), -- extracted value
       valueIndex int IDENTITY(1,1) -- index/position of the value in a string
)
AS
BEGIN

             WITH Vals AS (
                    SELECT
                           @pItemNr as ItemKey
                           ,CAST('''' + REPLACE(@pCategoriesString, @pSeparator, '''') + '''' AS XML) XmlColumn
             ) -- close CTE

             INSERT INTO @tblResult
             SELECT
                      _res.PrdKey
                    , _res.Value
             FROM (
                    SELECT
                             ItemKey AS PrdKey
                           , LTRIM(RTRIM(C.value(''.'',''varchar(max)''))) AS Value
                    FROM    Vals
                    CROSS APPLY Vals.XmlColumn.nodes(''/d'') AS T(C)
             ) _res

       RETURN
END
