Calling with SIP-provider on N97 mini

Hello @all,

finally I could resolve the issue with calling standard numbers using SIP-provider "CheapVoip" on my N97 mini. If you want to call those numbers (landline or mobile ones), create new attribute of the contact as "@sip.cheapvoip.com", and use this attribute when doing your SIP-call. Earlier version of the application installed on N95 could create this "login" automatically, so that's why I didn't have this problem with N95.

If you have any questions, just contact me here.

And today I installed WhatsApp on N97 mini... New epoche started today :-)

Setting up VoIP on Nokia N97 mini

Hello again,

I recently decided to configure VoIP on my (recently) new N97 mini (by the way, I'm really impressed by the quality of the phone. Going to keep it for the next several years, because he satisfies me completely). Actually, I had already configured my SIP-profile some time ago (I have an account at "CheapVOIP"-provider), but I had real problems with using it, because when I tried to use it via "Sipgate", it simply didn't work - I couldn't make any call. So, I decided to fix it and made some search in google. In order to configure the VoIP on N97 mini, you MUST have this file:

SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_S60_5_x_v1_0_en.sis

Earlier it could be downloaded from Nokia site, now (August 2014) you should google for it. Download it and install like any other ordinary application. After you installed it, you should have new menu item "Advanced VOIP Settings" here:

Settings -> Connectivity -> Admin. settings -> Net. settings.

Now you are able to configure VoIP on your phone:
1) configure your SIP-profile as described in my earlier post about N95;
2) now go to "Advanced Voip Settings" menu item. Click on it, and choose "create new service". You will be asked for the SIP profile, which will be used as a basis for the new service. Choose your desired profile and wait a couple of seconds;
3) now if you go to the menu item "Voip services", you will see your new service.

That's all. Noe you can use VoIP-feature of you N97 mini.

Thinkpad T60p: GPU driver for Windows 7

Hello @all,

while installing Windows 7 on my new Thinkpad T60p, I found out that there was no Win7-driver for the GPU "ATI FireGL V5200". Solution: use latest driver available (WinXP? Vista?) and install it in compatibility mode. See this post for details (in German!):

New laptop: Thinkpad T60p

After several days of considerations I decided to replace my laptop T43p, which served me last 6,5 years, with a "new" one - T60p, with UXGA display (15 inch, 1600 x 1200) and ATI graphic adapter. I bought it on eBay for 169€. I plan to install Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10 on it.

Synchronising your Nokia N95 with "Google Calendar"

Another point which costed me some time, was synchronisation with "Google Calendar". One can find many posts, saying that Google offers "GoogleSync" for it. Others say, that only "Mail for Exchange" will do it. That's the right answer. Forget about "GoogleSync", it's dead. Google stopped sync-service via SyncML at the beginning of this year (2013).

"Mail for Exchange" is a free application (as of September 2013), which is available from "Ovi Store" for download. Install it on your phone, configure it and get your appointments from "Google Calendar".

Update 06.10.2013: it looks like server "m.google.com", which is used as Exchange-Server in "Mail for Exchange", is available tu business users only (who use Google Apps via enterprise accounts). Hmmm... I'm not amused... I will check for another synchronisation options... Eventually with other calendar services... Google is not the only mail/calendar service in the world.
