Thinkpad Z61t and Thinkpad X60 tablet - two oldies, which are still interesting in year 2020

sometime ago I bought two Thinkpads, which are quite rare in Germany. Technically seen, their are real dinusauriers, but for me they represent a kind of "technical" art. I'm quite impressed, how IBM-engineers created their products. I speak about Thinkpad Z61t and X60 Tablet (X60t). Here are some photos of them.

[Flug über OPODO buchen - Kampf um Erstattung]: Mail-Adressen ungültig

Hallo,

die Vorgeschichte: Anfang März habe ich über OPODO (www.opodo.de) ein Flug in die Heimat gebucht. Der Flug sollte von "Uzbekistan Airways" durchgeführt werden. Am 16.03 hat die Fluggesellschaft alle internationale Flüge eingestellt. Damit began mein Kampf um Erstattung des Flugpreises mit OPODO.Ich werde hier über diverse Schritte und Erfolge / Miserfolge berichten, so dass vielleicht auch andere Kunden vom Wissen profitieren können.

Was ich jetzt sagen kann: die Mail-Adressen vonm OPODO, die man im Internet findet, funktionieren nur teilweise:
- kundenservice@edreams.com - funktioniert nicht
- customerservice-de@contact.opodo.com - scheint zu funktionieren!
- mail@opodo.de - Zustellung unmöglich, die Mail befindet sich seit 3 tagen in der Warteschlange (wofür Google mich regelmäßig informiert).

Die Telephone funktionieren nicht. Egal, ob 069-, 030- oder 040-Nummer. Die Warteschlange reagiert auf die Engabe der Buchungsnummer nicht, bzw. reagiert immer (unabhängig davon, ob man was eingegeben hat, oder nicht) mit Ansage, dass die Buchungsnummer nicht erkannt wurde. Anschließend fliegt man aus der Warteschlange raus.

Pimp my Lenovo 3000 N200: wie man einen Hardware-Rentner aufwertet.

Lenovo hatte vor ca. 10 Jahren ein Modell im Angebot - Lenovo 3000 N200. Der Rechner wurde von Lenovo als "Thinkpad für preisbewusste" abgeboten, die Ausstattung deckte alle mögliche Konbinationen - von sehr sparsam bis sehr großzügig, mit eigener Grafikkarte und WSXGA+-Bildschirm.

Ich hatte 2 solche Modelle am Lager - 1 mit Intel-GPU und sehr "preisbewusster" Ausstattung und 1 mit viel Power, aber mit defekter NVIDIA-Grafikkarte. Da ich am Wochenende Zeit hatte, habe ich mich entschieden, aus 2 Laptops 1 zu bauen.

Spender:
Type 0769-B2G, mit Core2Duo T7300, ABGN-WLAN und WSXGA+-Bildschirm (1680 x 1050) und 1,3MP-Webcamera

Originalgerät:
Type 0769-EAG, mit Intel T2370, ABG-WLAN und WXGA-Bildschirm (1270 x 800), 2 GB RAM, 120 GB Festplatte.

Austausch:
1) CPU + WLAN-Karte austauschen
2) Bildschirm auseiander nehmen, TFT-Panel ausbauen (aus beiden Laptops)
3) Web-Camera ausbauen und in Originalgerät einbauen
4) Bildschirme austauschen
5) alles wieder zusammen bauen

Damit bekam ich ein Laptop vom Typ "Frankenpad", bestehend aus High-End-Elementen und robuste Intel-Grafikkarte. Hier sind ein paar Fotos:

HowTo: Wiederherstellen des Auslieferungzustandes auf einem Fujitsu Amilo PA2510

Hallo, ich habe neulich einen Laptop Amilo PA2510 gekauft, darauf war Windows Vista installiert - alledings nicht frisch, sondern nach längere Verwendung. Als ich "Datenträger-Manager" startete, merkte ich, dass Festplatte eine EISA-Partition hat.

 Nach kurze Suche im Internet wusste ich, dass es hier um eine Recovery-Partition des Herstellers handelt. Die Frage war aber - wie starte ich die Wiederherstellung? Weitere Suche im Internet brachte mich auf die richtige Reihenfolge. Ich habe gedacht, es könnte auch für andere Nutzer interessant sein, und habe mir alles aufgeschrieben:
1) beim Start von Windows F8 mehrmals drucken, irgendwann kommt Startmenü

Darin "Computer reparieren" auswählen.
 

2) richtiges Tastatur-Layout wählen

3) Benutzer mit Admin-Berechtigungen auswählen

4) und anschließend auf "Fujitsu Siemens Computer Recovery" clicken (ganz unten)

5) Recovery-Software startet

6) darin Option "Auslieferungszustand wiederherstellen" wählen

7) Quelle = Fetsplatte - dabei wird EISA-Partition angesprochen und verwendet werden.

 

Thinkpad / Frankenpad R61i: review and imperessions

After everal months of use I have to admit, that I'm really impressed by the performance gain I could achieve. My new laptop is fast, I can run (at least) 2 virtual machines at the same time (Windows 7 and XUbuntu), and UXGA display is large enough to show all news on one screen. :-)

Ports: after BIOS update I can use all "standard" ports, like USB, ExpressCard and PCMCIA. I did not test FireWire and S-Video, because I have neither devices nor need.

I'm quite satisfied with my job, and I plan to kepp this self-made Thinkpad for another couple of years. If something goes wrong, I have already a backup solution - Fujitsu-Siemens E8410. I bought him occasionaly for 12€ and I like him. It has all features I need.

Time to say goodbye… switching from T60p to a self-made Thinkpad…

since 5 years I am an owner of Thinkpad T60p (type 2008-9EG). It has IPS UXGA display, Core Duo CPU of the 1st generation with 2,26 GHz, 3 GB of RAM, ATI GPU. Actually, the highest configuration possible for this platform. A couple of months ago I got X61s for a couple of euros, so I was thinking about switching from T60p to X61s. I asked people @ forum.thinkpads.com about advantages and disadvantages. They explained me, what I would gain and loose in the case of replacing T60p with X61s. And suddenly somebody said „if you want to keep the UXGA resolution, try to find an old R61/R61i with 15 inches an 4:3 relation, then just replace the screen (T60p <-> R61) and you will have more modern laptop with same UXGA display“. I have to admit, first I found this idea quite crazy, because I have no experience in hardware. But people told, the switch should quite safe and problemless. So, I decided to do it.

After searching some days at German eBay I finally found the proper one – Thinkpad R61i (type 8943-DKG). The seller sold it without HDD and power supply. It costed me 40€ (incl. Shipping). I bought it. While waiting, I also bought 4 GB of RAM and another CPU – Core2Duo T8100 (with 2,1 GHz). So, when R61i arrived, I installed Middleton BIOS (to support T8100), exchanged CPU, display and upgraded RAM. And here it is – my first „Frankenpad“, R61i with a power of T61 and UXGA display of T60p.

recently I found on eBay (Germany) new Lenovo Watch 9 for 20€ and decided to buy it. Today it arrived. I paired it with my Motorola G4 Plus and will test them in the next days.
